Mac Miller Drops New Song “What’s The Use?” With Thundercat, Snoop Dogg, and Syd

Mac Miller is feeling fine… and funky.

Mac Miller decided to grace us with another jam this morning ahead of his August 3rd release date for his new album Swimming. “What’s The Use?” features an insane bassline, done by the one and only Thundercat (who else?), and premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show this morning. Syd, from The Internet, who just released a new album, and Snoop Dogg also provide background vocals on the jam. But the Thundercat collaboration was actually something Mac Miller described as being mainly improvised. “Swear to God, that was the first thing he played, like not even checking the notes or anything,” Mac said in the Beats 1 interview, “He literally picked up the bass and that was the first thing he naturally did.” Mac also talked to Lowe about his breakup with Ariana Grande, saying “I was in love with somebody. We were together for two years. We worked through good times, bad times, stress and everything else. And then it came to an end and we both moved on. And it’s that simple.”

He also added that he’s been staying off the Internet but obviously hinted that he knew she was engaged to Pete Davidson, still, wishing them the best, saying “it just all seemed kind of unimportant you know — the need to show people I was OK.” He added, “It’s all positive energy I am happy for her and [the fact that she’s] moving forward with her life, just as I’m sure she is with me.”Whether or not these are Mac’s true feelings will only truly be revealed in his music.

So let’s wait till August 3rd to see if Pete Davidson gets some Wild N’ Out flashbacks. In the meantime, you can find “What’s The Use?” from Mac Miller on our Tasty! Jams playlists for July.
