Caribou Shares New Song “Never Come Back”

From the upcoming album Suddenly.

After reviving Caribou late last year, Canadian producer Dan Snaith has shared a few lovely jams like “Home” and “You And I.” Now, Caribou is back again with the shimmering “Never Come Back,” the third single from Caribou’s upcoming album Suddenlytheir first in five years.

Snaith had a bit to say about the track:

“‘Never Come Back’ was the first track from Suddenly that I finished. It came together very quickly and was one of those tracks that is a lot fun to make,” Snaith says. “As soon as I landed on the main synthesizer chords and the repeated refrain the rest came together very quickly and naturally. I felt like it was my job to get out of the way and not over complicate or over think it. Sometimes the best pleasures are the simple ones.”

Caribou Returns With “Home” His First New Song In 5 Years

The first new music from Dan Snaith under his Caribou moniker since 2014.

Five years since the release of the incredible studio album Our Love, we have new music from Caribou. Dan Snaith, the man behind the moniker, also releases music under Daphni, which we’ve heard more recently, but his new single, “Home,” marks the return of Caribou. Sampling Gloria Barnes’ song of the same name the chill track feels like a futuristic throwback.

Dan Snaith had a bit to say about the track, noting “I’m always listening to lots of music and sometimes a loop just jumps out at me—it’s too perfect. That’s how it was with Gloria Barnes’ ‘Home’— I kept returning to it, meaning to do something with it but not knowing what. Sometimes making music feels like a process I’m in charge of… but there are other times when things just present themselves and my job is to follow their lead. It wasn’t until the circumstances of someone close to me mirrored the refrain of the original song that the track all came together.”

Snaith continued, “When I’ve played it to friends, several of them have said that they feel like it’s speaking to their circumstances, about people close to them. We’ve all had moments when something changes suddenly and catalyses a change in your whole life—when you need to go back to something familiar, pick up the pieces and start again.”

In addition to the new song he announced a worldwide tour. You can see all the dates below and find “Home” from Caribou on our Tasty! Jams playlists.

Caribou Makes His Comeback! Shares New Daphni Song “Sizzling”

It’s getting hot in here.

Daphni (aka Caribou‘s Dan Snaith) just shared his first new music in nearly two years, solidifying June as the comeback month less than a week in. “Sizzling” is an upbeat dance track that also samples Paradise’s 1981 song “Sizzlin’ Hot,” spinning it into the dance abyss. In addition, he’s announced that he’ll put out a new EP this summer under the same name so keep on the lookout for that one, which is rumored to already be in some records stores. You can find “Sizzling” from Daphni on our Tasty! Jams playlists for June.
