The Tasty! Jams From July

A jam filled July.

July made it pretty hard to try and choose a song of the summer. With so many incredible releases, like new albums from Cuco, Blood Orange, and YBN Cordae, some tunes got lost in the shuffle. So here’s a quick roundup of all of last month’s jams, which you can find on our Tasty! Jams playlists.

We kicked things off with the Dreamville collaborative album, featuring J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, DaBaby, JID, and so, so many more. Then Dominic Fike and Kenny Beats hit us with “Phone Numbers” before Post Malone and Young Thug teamed for “Goodbyes.” We got a new album from JADEN, some Tasty! Jams from No Suits, Ohmfield, and quickly, quickly, as well as a new album from Hibou and a collaborative track from filous and Ashe. We also saw the return of dvsn and some big names like Bon Iver, Bonobo, and Sebastian. JVLY came through with a chill new single and Hippo Campus shared a pair of demo albums. FARR covered “Bulletproof,” warner case shared another deep house banger and we got some wavy new indie tracks from White Cliffs, Havelock and Yellow Days. We got new albums from Palace and Tuxedo, new jams from PB&GJ favorites Easy Life, Ocean HeightsVerzache, Goldwash, Four Tet and More Giraffes, and jams from some new faces like Alexandra, Jarami, Summer Salt, Poolside, PINES and AUGUST 08. Now, we can’t forget about the Queen! Beyoncé shared her new Lion King album and we also got new albums from Rich Brian and Chance The Rapper. Closing us out, we also featured new tunes from Papooz, La Felix, Cosmo’s Midnight, slenderbodies, Sweater Beats, Nick Dorian, Ashe, Louis Mattrs, Slow Magic, LeyeT, Caius, Zanski, OTR and so many more.

Ohmfield Shares Chilling New Song "Givin' Up"

Ohmfield Shares Chilling New Song “Givin’ Up”

Ohmfield is far from “Givin’ Up”

Earlier this year the UK producer Ohmfield shared with us his chilling track “Habitual Cold.” Now he’s back with another new offering, this time in the form of the slightly jazzier “Givin’ Up.” The mostly instrumental track features some slick production and a vibe more fitting for those living in the Southern Hemisphere this time of the year.

On the song, Ohmfield had this to say: “This melancholic and pensive piece was created in response to a series of thoughts that have been swimming around in my head recently. It seems as one gets older, they tend to fall into the trap of routine and repetition, effectively ‘giving up’ on the person they used to be. I made this track in acknowledgment of this and as a little reminder that feeling unsafe and out-of-control in life is sometimes when it can be at it’s most exciting.”

You can find “Givin’ Up” on our Tasty! Jams playlists for July.

The Tasty! Jams From April

April was simply amazing.

April was jam packed — literally. We got new albums from Anderson .Paak, Khalid, Bronze Whale, Cage The Elephant, BROCKHAMPTON’s Kevin Abstract, James Hersey, ScHoolboy Q, and Nick Murphy (fka Chet Faker) and new EP’s from Jerry Folk, SYML, and Ashe. On top of all of those incredible releases we got new music from some artists we’ve been missing like Flying Lotus, KAYTRANADA, and Lil Uzi Vert and found new artists like Ohmfield, Kada Yorke, Fantastic Mister Zguy and That’s Nice. The month wouldn’t be complete though without mentioning the new singles from Tame Impala, Still Woozy, Golden Vessel, GEO, Oliver Tree, FKJ, Four Tet, James Blake, Tim Atlas, Lauv, and Vampire Weekend — who’s album is dropping this Friday!

Ohmfield Drops Outstanding New Song "Habitual Cold"

Ohmfield Drops Outstanding New Song “Habitual Cold”

Upcoming producer Ohmfield shared this “cold” jam.

“Habitual Cold” is a mostly instrumental track that features some ambient aspects but still packs a punch. On the song, Ohmfield told us “I wanted to create an organic feel throughout with a good groove but by still retaining sincerity” and the track does just that. Combining what seems like a countless amount of different sounds together, Ohmfield creates the feeling you’re sitting in a dimly lit room watching your own breath. You can find “Habitual Cold” from Ohmfield on our Tasty! Jams playlists for April.
