On "Deliverance" Goldwash Truly Delivers A Beautiful Listen

On “Deliverance” Goldwash Truly Delivers A Beautiful Listen

Goldwash’s newest puts his best features on full display.

On his first new single since 2019, Goldwash comes through with a precisely perfect blend of orchestral elements and spinning sounds. Originally from Baltimore and now living in LA, producer, singer, and songwriter Gabe Acheson first made waves with his Goldwash project back in 2016 with a pair of EPs. In 2019 he released his debut album Flat Earth Surf Club, including PB & Good Jam favorites “Set In Motion” and “Over Again,” which also features Acheson’s similarly talented brother Baird. While we may not have seen much from Goldwash in the past year, Acheson has certainly been busy. After collaborating with artists like Berhana, Flo Milli, and Kojey Radical, he’s back to work on his solo project, dropping “Deliverance” for our listening pleasure.

“Deliverance” is a beautiful track that really shows off Acheson’s songwriting abilities with a gorgeous blend of orchestral strings that ride perfectly off his vocals. The songs opens softly and ends the same with an elegant orchestral outro featuring violins and violas performed by Mohammad Rjoub and Olivia Salas.

Here’s a few words Acheson had to say about the track:

“‘Deliverance’ came from an idea I’d been kicking around for a while, but the song solidified during early lockdown. The main riff sounds to me like spinning around in circles, which is kinda what the song is about; changing perspective and passing time but still not going anywhere. It was a challenge to get the remotely-recorded string parts at the end to fit together like a real orchestra, but ultimately it worked out through detailed arrangement and great playing.”

Gorillaz Got The Cure's Robert Smith For Some "Strange Timez"

Gorillaz Got The Cure’s Robert Smith For Some “Strange Timez”

The latest installment in the Gorillaz’s “Song Machine” series comes with a big announcement.

Over the course of the year the Gorillaz have been releasing music with a variety of different collaborators as part of their Song Machine audiovisual series. So far, the animated band of misfits have shared five tracks, including “Momentary Bliss” with slowthai and “Pac-Man,” featuring ScHoolboy Q. Now, alongside their sixth addition to the series, they’re finally ready to announce what this has all been leading up to: Song Machine: Season 1 – Strange Timez, a collection of 11 tracks (17 on the deluxe edition) that feature up-and-coming artists right next to legendary musicians. The title track for the series, their sixth release, “Strange Timez,” certainly falls into the latter category as it features The Cure‘s Robert Smith. The song is certainly, well strange, but that’s par for the course when you’re dealing with Damon Albarn— or should I say 2-D, Murdoc, Noodles and Russel.

Snse Delivers Explosive New Drum & Bass Track "Uncoming"

Snse Delivers Explosive New Drum & Bass Track “Uncoming”

The self-described “Drum & Bass extraordinaire” doesn’t hold back on “Uncoming.”

Snse is here to get you amped. The up-and-coming producer just shared his third single, “Uncoming,” this morning and if you feel like giving your ear drums a bit of a workout then put this track on full blast. The explosive energy pours through Snse’s production, challenging you to keep your head from bobbing and your body from rocking. And even though this is only the young producer’s third track, following “Orisha” and “Solomon,” it’s clear there’s a whole lot of talent.

Snse’s musical talent may come as no surprise to some though, as the
“Drum & Bass extraordinaire” is the son of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Frankie Valli, lead singer of the chart-topping 60’s group Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons who you may recognize for giving the world the theme song to Grease and the forever in-style “December, 1963 (Oh, What A Night).” While the genre of choice for the younger Valli couldn’t have been more different than his father’s, it’s clear that musical gene runs in the family.

After announcing it earlier this week, Still Woozy has delivered his latest single, his first new music of 2020. His first new record since last year’s lovely Lately EP, “Window” features some of those relatively relaxed vibes we’ve come to expect from Woozy, along with a touch of fun in the form of silly ad-libs and quick pace changes in an otherwise emotional track.

Joji’s new album Nectar arrives July 10th.

Today Joji announced his sophomore album Nectar and gave fans a sweet taste of what’s to come with the angelic new single “Gimme Love.” Following February’s “Run” and last year’s “Sanctuary” Joji has made it clear that he’s taken his fascination with space to the next level, once again stepping into his spacesuit for the “Gimme Love” music video, which he directed alongside Andrew Donoho.

The track itself opens with a spastic beat before breaking into an ethereal ballad about halfway through. Joji spoke to Billboard about the song, noting that “Back in the day, I feel like you had a favorite part of a song, and now that’s not really a thing anymore… So I thought it would just be nice to kind of have a song that’s long and in two parts.”

Playboi Carti Makes His Big Return With "@ MEH"

Playboi Carti Makes His Big Return With “@ MEH”

The Florida rapper’s heavily hyped return record has arrived.

After more than a year of delays and a whole lot of false hope surrounding Playboi Carti‘s widely anticipated album Whole Lotta Red the baby-voiced phenom has returned with a new single. After sharing the cover art two days ago, this morning Carti graced us with his first new solo music since 2018’s critically acclaimed Die Lit, the melodic “@ MEH.”

Along with the new song and video came an ominous tweet from Carti, simply saying “MoNDaY.” We’ll have to wait out the weekend to see what he could have in store for us but for now you can watch the “@ MEH” video below and find Carti’s comeback track on our Tasty! Jams playlists.

Jamie xx Returns With Next Level Dance Jam "Idontknow"

Jamie xx Returns With Next Level Dance Jam “Idontknow”

His first solo music since 2015.

Jamie xx‘s 2015 album In Colour holds true as one of the best albums of the past decade and now, after five years, the producer and The xx frontman has returned with new solo music. “Idontknow” is a percussion heavy, dance-floor ready jam that is sure to remind you of some of Jamie’s past gems.

On his Instagram Jamie xx spoke a bit about the track: “I made ‘Idontknow’ as an outlet for my frustration over not being able to finish any music for a while. I tried to be less precious with my ideas and just let go. I then watched this translate onto the dance floor when I started playing it out last year. Now, we can’t go out to dance and we need an outlet more than ever, I hope you dance to it at home and let go for a moment.”

Jamie also shared a 35-second preview of the “Idontknow” video, which features dancer Oona Doherty, who shot the video with her friends during the Coronavirus quarantine. You can watch the video below and find “Idontknow” from Jamie xx on our Tasty! Jams playlists.

Harry Nathan Delivers Some Disco Groove With New Song "Frontin' Me"

Harry Nathan Delivers Some Disco Groove With New Song “Frontin’ Me”

“Frontin’ Me” is a late-night, dimly lit, groove.

Kitsuné Musique’s newest release is down and dirty jam from Harry Nathan. We’ve heard Harry before on “Alright” and “Sweet Release” but his newest single, the groovy “Frontin’ Me,” features some of the most dance-driven music we’ve seen from him. It’s perfect for a late-night drive filled with city lights and, with a touch of the psychedelic, “Frontin’ Me” is sure to stay on repeat.

Nathan also had quite a bit to say about the song and the making of the track:

“The song was recorded into a 1984 SONY M-10 microcassette recorder. I wasn’t really sure what I was singing, I was just jamming and mumbling, stream of consciousness kind of thing. When entering this kind of trance, my lyrics tend to reflect unsurfaced emotions, and it wasn’t until after I had finished recording that I realised the song was about people that are fake, putting up a façade trying to impress all the time.”

“Frontin’ Me” also comes with a visual that features an appearance from Nathan’s frequent collaborator, actress Odeya Rush from Ladybird, as well as some of his other close friends. He spoke on the making of the video as well:

“We made the video with our mates, actors Odeya Rush, Ryan Lee and Christian Valderrama at my place in L.A. The original idea was for me to perform the song live, though it quickly evolved on the fly to me being on an ambiguous red carpet, being interviewed by Tammy. I entered a trance that took me back to my fourth-grade sleepover.”

JVLY Comes Through With Some Smooth Lo-Fi Vibes On "monsoon"

JVLY Comes Through With Some Smooth Lo-Fi Vibes On “monsoon”

JVLY delivers some smooth and soulful sounds with hint of funk.

Australian artist JVLY shared a pair of tranquil tracks last year that had me wanting more and now he’s delivered. The “tacenda” singer and producer came through with some serious soul today. Mixed and mastered by cln, “monsoon” is a lo-fi jam worth dancing to. It’s got vibes reminiscent of Still Woozy and overall sultry feel.

RELATED: JVLY Delivers Crisp New Single “me&her”

JVLY had a very specific vision in mind for this one, one that he spoke a bit about:

“I’ve had this concept in mind for a while, but I’d never written anything fitting enough for the mood I was trying to capture. I like the idea of how feeling kind of forlorn can be made to seem less heavy on you by hearing a song you connect with or relate to. So that was kind of the idea, I wanted to capture that gloomy feeling, but at the same time still create a mood that helps you to see that it’s probably going to be all good.”

Aminé Is Back With Shiny New Single "Shimmy"

Aminé Is Back With Shiny New Single “Shimmy”

Aminé pays homage to Old Dirty Bastard’s 1995 hit “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” on this stylish new jam.

Aminé has a lot of hometown pride and he’s ready to show it off with his new song “Shimmy.” In the music video for his new song, the Portland, Oregon rapper partakes in a bunch of activities around his city whilst repping Nike and channeling Old Dirty Bastard.

It’s the rapper’s first new music since 2019’s “Places + Faces” and the second song we’ve heard since his Tasty! 2018 album ONEPOINTFIVEYou can find “Shimmy” from Aminé on our Tasty! Jams playlists.

REI AMI Breaks Free On Edgy New Song "RUNAWAY"

REI AMI Breaks Free On Edgy New Song “RUNAWAY”

REI AMI does it again with her edgy new song.

With only four songs, REI AMI may still be a new name but it’s one that you’ll be hearing more and more of in the months to come. I introduced her back in August with the fiery “MAKE IT MINE” before she subsequently took over the world with “DICTATOR” and “SNOWCONE.” Now, she’s back again with the banging and booming “RUNAWAY.”

The track finds REI delivering sultry whispers over a claustrophobic, ear-ringing booming bass and drums. It’s her first track that doesn’t cut out halfway through and turn into a dream-pop bop and she kills it up until the weeping strings take over at the end, keeping our heart rates up and blood pumping the whole time she’s present.

RELATED: REI AMI Burns The House Down In The “DICTATOR” Music Video

Along with the release, REI gave a telling interview with i-D Magazine in which she spoke a bit about the song and got emotional while describing her upbringing.

When speaking on “RUNAWAY,” Rei said “I’ve been sitting on it for six or seven months now. It’s fearless, very ‘shut the fuck up, I call the shots and you listen’. The production and my vocals are much more elevated and cinematic, almost,” she says. “I’m really excited to show this side of myself.”

Later in the interview, she talks about her religious childhood: “In a religious household you can’t be yourself, you can’t think or feel the way you want to because you’re told it’s a sin or that God hates you, and that takes a serious mental toll. Especially when the one thing that brings you comfort and peace and joy is going to put you in hell. Finally I can be myself and say what I’ve always wanted to say, that’s freedom.”

DaBaby Tells The Haters To “Shut Up” With New Song & Video

DaBaby is here to take 2020.

DaBaby had quite the Super Bowl weekend. Thankfully, he filmed it all and compiled the footage into a new video for his new song “Shut Up.” The song, while not his best, is a somewhat humorous, somewhat disgusting, call out to all the haters. With the release he also made an announcement:
