The absurd Oliver Tree is back with an official album release date.
The bowl-cut “Miracle Man” we truly don’t deserve has returned. Oliver Tree dropped a new song and music video today and after seeing his other work like “Hurt” and “Fuck” it’s just as insane as we’ve all come to expect from the living meme himself. “Cash Machine” features Oliver driving a pimped out DeLorean hovercraft and a battle on the high seas. With the new track also came his long-awaited album announcement. His debut album, titled UGLY IS BEAUTIFUL, is set to release March 27 of next year. Watch the video below and you can find “Cash Machine” from Oliver Tree on our Tasty! Jams playlists.
Kicking things right off with the new month, we’ve got the debut album from a fellow Massachusettsan (I think that’s a word). After nabbing Tasty! Jams spots for her last three singles, “Bags,”“Closer To You” and “Sofia,”Clairo has shared her debut album Immunity. The dreamy album was co-produced with Rostam and features some additional drums from Danielle Haim. The always wild Oliver Tree shared three new songs today as part of his Do You Feel Me? EP, with the title track featuring production from his frequent collaborator Whethan. Garçons also have a new song and video out today as does the consistently funky duo of Nick Dorian and Shibo. Lauv shared a new song from the upcoming season of Reasons Why titled “fuck, i’m lonely” and featuring UK pop sensation Anne-Marie. Then take a break with Vacationer and their new instrumental release “Treat” before spinning a bouncy new jam out today from Butterjack. Lastly, we’ve got a new song from Bag Raiders and Panama but, I’ll be honest, it came out last week and I just found it today. I don’t care though it’s a bump so I’m including it anyway (come at me). Check out everything below and find it all on our Tasty! Jams playlists.
Oliver Tree discussed his childhood, his deal with Atlantic Records, issues with YouTube’s age restrictions, and much more during his appearance.
Oliver Tree has become very well known for his extremely erratic behavior but today we saw a very different side of the bowl cut donning artist. During his appearance on the H3 Podcast, hosted by Ethan and Hila Klein, Oliver covered a range of personal topics and showed a much more tame side of his personality. Granted, the show did start off with a “vape off” between Tree and Ethan, but it got serious very quickly.
Oliver discussed the making of his music video “Hurt,” noting that he had been inspired to make the video since he was ten years old. The video has been age restricted by YouTube and the fight with the video streaming platform seems to have left Oliver creatively stifled in ways. Luckily the show’s host, who is a YouTuber himself, offered to reach out on Oliver’s behalf.
As the ninety minute interview continued Oliver discussed a variety of topics including his childhood, growing up in Santa Cruz, the rapidly developing drug problem there, and investing his own money into his music videos. He tells the story of how he got signed, getting flown to New York and subsequently pranking the CEO of Atlantic Records by falling off his Razor scooter and popping blood capsules in his mouth before his pitch meeting. He also touched on his former professional scooter freestyle career and on the injury that made him turn to music, adding that he’s broken eight bones.
Towards the end of the interview Oliver Tree revealed that his debut album is done and has been done for quite some time. He’s currently engaged in a battle with his label over the release date, which is still up in the air. He seemingly confirmed that his current tour would be his last before telling a story about a paranormal experience to end the interview.
It was quite refreshing to see a more controlled side of the man who’s known for pushing things to incredibly extreme level. Check out the full interview above and catch Oliver Tree on tour this summer.
After spending the last few days draining his fans of all their likes, comments, and retweets, Oliver Tree has finally delivered his newest song and video, “Miracle Man.” It’s about what you’d expect from Oliver Tree and features as much ridiculous nonsense and gruesome injuries as his previous work like “Hurt” and “Fuck.” While the video may stick to playing up Oliver’s insanity the song itself is actually one of his best yet and has a more stripped down, punk rock feel to it. With “Miracle Man” also came a headlining “farewell” tour announcement across the US. Titled the “Goodbye, Farwell Tour” it’s yet to be seen if this is just another gimmick or if the Oliver Tree character will be retired after this series of dates. For now, you can find all of the announced tour dates below and “Miracle Man” on our Tasty! Jams playlists for June.
