The Tasty! Jams From March

The Tasty! Jams From March

The musical March Madness is finally over.

With an absolutely insane amount of songs on our playlist this month, more than double the amount of days in March, it’s going to be quite a time trying to recap the month. We saw album releases from Solange, Pond, 2 Chainz, josh pan, Billie Eilish, DaBaby, and Flume (mixtape, whatever) and EP drops from Dijon, Easy Life, Cautious Clay, The Kite String Tangle, and APRE. On top of all of that we got the first new music in years from Tame Impala, Schoolboy Q, Four Tetand Mac DeMarco, several new songs from Tierra Whackalbum announcements from DeMarco, Nick Murphy / Chet Faker, Anderson .Paak, Khalid, Diplo, and twice as many EP announcements.

Below are some of our favorite singles from the last month, but that’s not to take away from any of the nearly 70 incredible tracks on the Tasty! Jams playlists for March.

Moods – “Where I Met You”

Dijon – “Drunk”

Andrew Applepie — “Salted Caramel”

Franc Moody — “She’s Too Good For Me”

Fresh Music Friday: Cage The Elephant, Beck, Billie Eilish, Whethan, APRE & More

Fresh Music Friday: Cage The Elephant, Beck, Billie Eilish, Whethan, APRE & More

Fuck yeah, it’s Friday.

Man, March really flew by, but that’s not to say March wasn’t filled with it’s usual madness. With nearly 70 tracks making the Tasty! Jams playlist this month the amount of music we’ve gotten has been close to overwhelming. That being said, it’s Friday, which means it’s time for a whole new batch of tunes.

Kicking us off is the new collab from Cage The Elephant and Beck, “Night Running”, who will also be touring together this summer. Then we’ve got the emotionally draining debut album from Billie Eilish and a new single from Whethan and Bearson featuring Soak. APRE released a four song EP today, featuring the already certified Tasty! Jam “Gap Year 2008” and a few new hits, and we got the first taste of the Milk & Bone and Alex Lustig collaborative project with “Ride or Die.” Closing us out are the new singles from a couple Australian producers, the beautiful “Sweet Vanilla Sky” from Harry Nathan and the wild “Hurricane” from LUUDE featuring Great News.

You can find them all below and on our Tasty! Jams playlists for March.

Cage The Elephant x Beck – “Night Running”

Billie Eilish – WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?

Whethan x Bearson – “WIN YOU OVER (feat. Soak)”

APRE – Everyone’s Commute EP

Milk & Bone x Alex Lustig – “Ride or Die”

Harry Nathan – Sweet Vanilla Sky

LUUDE – “Hurricane (feat. Great News)”

Billie Eilish Drops Debut Album "WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?"

Billie Eilish Drops Debut Album “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?”

She also released a video for “bad guy.”

WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? is a surreal journey into the dark and twisted mind of Billie Eilish. There’s a lot of slow songs and they blend together as the gloomy, gothic vibe stays consistent throughout but the quiet tremor in Billie’s voice combined with the incredibly overwhelming bass creates a weird contrast that will keep you entranced.

Previously, Billie released the singles “wish you were gay”, “bury a friend” and “you should see me in a crown.” You can find all three and the newest Tasty! Jam, “bad guy” on our Tasty! Jams playlists.

Khalid Drops Introspective New Song "Self"

Khalid Drops Introspective New Song “Self”

The newest single from Khalid’s upcoming album Free Spirit.

Ahead of the release of his sophomore album Free Spirit Khalid gifted us with “Self” — a very introspective and seemingly dark track. Touching on his own mortality, his fears, and the process of change, on “Self” Khalid seems to have taken a new outlook on life.

Khalid’s first album made my Best Albums of 2017 list and his followup, Free Spirit, is out April 5th and will feature the previously released “My Bad” and his collaboration with Disclosure “Talk.” Since his first album Khalid has had massive hits with Billie Eilish and Halsey and released an EP titled Suncity last year.

Golden Vessel Announces Debut Album "SLOWSHINE"

Golden Vessel Announces Debut Album “SLOWSHINE”

SLOWSHINE will be out May 17th.

After dropping us the hint a few weeks back Golden Vessel has officially announced his debut album. SLOWSHINE will be out on May 17th via Mammal Sounds and the next single “HIGHWAY” will be out next week on April 5th. On the announcement, Golden Vessel wrote “Been looking forward to be able to say that for a while.”

Golden Vessel just finished touring alongside BAYNK and Akurei and then made a quick pit spot at SXSW before making the big announcement. Previously, he teamed with Oscar Key Sung for “DIZZY”, fought Mallrat with moon rocks in his “MOONSTONE” video, and joined forces with DUCKWRTH and Elkkle for “BIGBRIGHT”. I interviewed Golden Vessel earlier this month and caught him live in Los Angeles, check out the exclusive photos and video here.

Lil Uzi Vert Shares New Song "Free Uzi": Listen

Lil Uzi Vert Shares New Song “Free Uzi”: Listen

Uzi is back.

After months of speculation about Lil Uzi Vert “retiring” he’s back again with his first new music of 2019 after teasing the track on Instagram for the last 24 hours. “Free Uzi” is not yet on Apple Music or Spotify and the YouTube upload of the song reads “Provided to YouTube by Distrokid.” This is notable because Lil Uzi Vert is currently in a bit of a skirmish with his label, Atlantic Records. No one knows what the future may hold for Uzi but for now, he’s just asking to be free.

JVLY Brought The Waves On "tacenda"

JVLY Brought The Waves On “tacenda”

Tacenda (n.) – things better left unsaid, matters passed over in silence.

Australian producer JVLY came through big time with this smooth new jam — giving us the first taste of his upcoming EP. The slow build at the start of the song sets JVLY up perfectly to come in with his longingly seductive vocals as the soundscape fills up. Speaking on “tacenda” JVLY said “This is the first song I finished for a new EP I’ve been writing called Wild Onsen Echoes. It’s always taken me a long time to finish songs, just dwelling on them even if things aren’t flowing or working out and I think that ends up being a pretty toxic way to create. You get tired of it before you finish and then it’s lost. Lately I’ve been writing a lot of new ideas and if it doesn’t come all that naturally I’m just leaving it to the side. It seems to turn out more organic that way.” Continuing on to say “‘tacenda’ is one of those songs that came together pretty painlessly. It means ‘things that are better left unsaid’. I find that building the music into an environment of sounds that trigger or inspire a single line or a story is the best way to write. I think it’s kind of backwards, but it works like that for me.”

You can find “tacenda” from JVLY on our Tasty! Jams playlists for March.

"Hold On" To The Good Vibes With Crooked Colours New Song

“Hold On” To The Good Vibes With Crooked Colours New Song

Confirmed wavy.

Crooked Colours take the good vibes to the next level on their newest jam. “Hold On” kicks off with a slow build before unexpectedly breaking out into a deep house banger. The echoey vocals contrasted with the warm, fuzzy synths that carry the beat create an atmospheric feeling that will make you start toe tapping without knowing. You can find “Hold On” from Crooked Colours on our Tasty! Jams playlists for March.

Spend A Little "Alone Time" With Carter Reeves New Single

Spend A Little “Alone Time” With Carter Reeves New Single

Bringing out that SoCal funk.

Almost exactly a year ago Carter Reeves popped onto my radar with his collab with Abhi The Nomad, “Fly High.” Now he’s back again with his second Tasty! Jam of the month, following “Satellites”, and this time he’s adopted an even bouncier and more exhilarating sound. Reeves spoke on the record, saying “The conflict the track stems from is the classic inner struggle that ‘the grass is always greener on the other side.’ What you think you want is not always what you need, and I constantly battle with this concept. I’ve reached a point sonically in which I could be upfront about how I’m feeling. I am finally being honest in my writing and that is completely apparent on ‘Alone Time’.” You can find “Alone Time” from Carter Reeves on our Tasty! Jams playlists for March.

Flume Follows Up With New Song “Friends”

Flume Follows Up With New Song “Friends”

Less than a week since Flume released his first new music in nearly three years, he’s back again.

Flume surprised us all again today with the release of “Friends”, featuring Reo Cragun. Last week Flume dropped his Hi This Is Flume Mixtape and its corresponding (and very trippy) visualizer to rave reviews. “Friends” follows the path Flume made for himself with Hi This Is Flume and keeps those crazy vibes he created. You can find “Friends (feat. Reo Cragun)” on our Tasty! Jams playlists for March.

Cautious Clay Shares Soulful New "Table of Context EP"

Cautious Clay Shares Soulful New “Table of Context EP”

Cautious Clay continues his streak of hits with this new chapter.

The six-song and 27-minute EP is the perfect thing to kick off this Wednesday morning. Featuring the previously released “REASONS” and “HONEST ENOUGH” and four new songs, Table of Context is Cautious Clay‘s most concise and thought-provoking project to date. The echoing drums that he frequently embraces in many different songs provide an ominous backdrop to his powerful vocals that when contrasted create a very dreamy and soulful effect that you don’t want to get rid of. But comparing the feeling created by the closing track, “SOMETHING FOR NOTHING”, with the jarring opening to “REASONS” is almost impossible to do without those echoey drums that tie each track together.

Cautious Clay just recently announced a string of festival performances including Lollapalooza and Boston Calling and confirmed his up-and-coming status at SXSW. Last year he made it onto our Best Albums of 2018 list with his RESONANCE EP. You can find “SIDEWINDER”, “REASONS” and “HONEST ENOUGH” on our Tasty! Jams playlists.

Goldwash Gets Personal On Jazzy New Jam "You Don't Wanna Feed the Fire Anymore"

Goldwash Gets Personal On Jazzy New Jam “You Don’t Wanna Feed the Fire Anymore”

Just sit back and watch the flames.

“You Don’t Wanna Feed the Fire Anymore” is a relaxing jam from Goldwash, one of our favorite new artists. Previously Goldwash scored Tasty! Jams with “Rhythm Is Frozen” and “Episode” but on his first jam of 2019 he decides to take a calmer route than before, crooning his way over a muffled keyboard as he beckons for his baby to come back.

On the song, Goldwash told Complex “It’s a song about the surreal, psychedelic side of feeling down and out. The lyrics are pretty blunt and relatable (I hope) for anyone who’s been at the tail end of a relationship. I drew on my background in jazz piano and barbershop singing to set the mood with thick, unusual harmonies.”

Goldwash also announced that he’ll be releasing an album this summer titled Flat Earth Surf Club, so we’ll be on the lookout. You can find “You Don’t Wanna Feed the Fire Anymore” on our Tasty! Jams playlists from March.

Logic Teams With Mac DeMarco For Two Chill New Songs

Logic Teams With Mac DeMarco For Two Chill New Songs

Off of Logic’s soundtrack to his debut novel, Supermarket.

I’m not a huge fan of Logic. Frankly, he’s kind of cheesy. But that didn’t stop me from giving these Mac DeMarco-assisted jams a shot and I’m happy I did. On “Probably Gonna Rock Your World” and “Vacation From Myself” Logic takes a sharp left turn from whatever you’re used to hearing from him, crooning along and delivering his best Sublime impression as Mac breaks away into a guitar solo in the background.

Mac DeMarco recently announced a new album, Here Comes The Cowboy, which will be out on May 10th. You can find “Probably Gonna Rock Your World” and “Vacation From Myself” from Logic and Mac DeMarco on our Tasty! Jams playlists for March.
